Awareness

Awareness is "the quality or state of being aware, consciousness." To be aware means "to be watchful, vigilant, cautious, on one's guard; informed, cognizant, conscious, sensible." Aware also means to be awake, alert, watchful, informed, enlightened, knowledgeable, learned, and expert," synonyms that mean mindful or heedful of something. Aware implies "knowledge gained through one's perceptions, or the attitudes of others." Ignorance and obliviousness are opposite states to awareness.

Awareness is a faculty, a virtue and an initiatory degree. Awareness is an instinctive aspect of consciousness. Certain scriptures treat awareness as being "awake," and obliviousness as being "asleep."

Edna Lister on Awareness

Your intelligence is infinite because God is your intelligence, and you can have whatever degree of awareness or knowledge you wish by using that intelligence. – Edna Lister, God as Consciousness Appears as Form, 1933.

You must redeem yourself from a sense of separation into an awareness of God. – Edna Lister, The Song of the Lamb, March 6, 1935.

You must be aware of your divinity, and of God's Power. – Edna Lister, Vicarious Atonement, March 20, 1935.

Some people are unaware of the darkness and malice around them until it hangs heavily upon their soul, then realization comes. – Edna Lister, Be-Attitudes, October 24, 1935.

As beings in existence, we must first become conscious and aware, we must know that we exist before we can do any thinking. – Edna Lister, Philosophy, January 27, 1936.

A mediator must always be conscious. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, April 17, 1938.

The soul partakes of God's consciousness, which manifests as both unconscious and conscious. The creature's level of awareness is unconscious of the self. The creator is consciousness in an earthly sense and can become fully God-conscious, which we call cosmic or Christed consciousness. – Edna Lister, What Is the Soul? October 2, 1938.

Watch, lest when the Power comes on you unexpectedly, your vanity and conceits sweep you into unknown ways and devious fantasies. Watchfulness saves much misspent time. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, November 14, 1938.

Watch that all your desires may be selfless and for your greatest good. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, January 8, 1939.

Watch all pictures within the fortress of your mind that you allow only those of good for yourself and all others. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, January 8, 1939.

One who is alert and ever watchful over the Father's business makes a good steward in God's house. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, February 29, 1940.

Observe to avoid blunders, to be awake, alive, alert and aware always. – Edna Lister, A Design for Ascension, 1941.

Awareness is immediate vitalized consciousness that God is all in all, through all and all, as all. Awareness makes your present place very holy ground and makes you the servant of all the Power. – Edna Lister, A Design for Ascension, 1941.

Be watchful unto all sacrifice of all self. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, August 12, 1941.

Watch for hidden weaknesses in yourself. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, September 2, 1941.

You often become aware of something through intuition before you give it your personal attention. – Edna Lister, Awareness, May 3, 1942.

Charge your subconscious mind constantly to analyze what it inducts from the outer, then go about your business of being fully aware and mentally conscious. In other words, know what you are doing. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, June 30, 1944.

Light makes the path clear before you; tread it watchfully, that self does not trip you. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, July 31, 1944.

Watch, pray, and let no self involve you. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, November 2, 1944.

Unless you consciously train yourself always to stand before your high altar, you are apt to be caught unaware. You speak too hastily, act too quickly, give or take offense before you become conscious of what you are doing. – Edna Lister, Keys to the Kingdom, 1945.

Seek constant, vigilant consciousness of being in the Kingdom of Heaven every moment of every day, realizing you are in it with each awakening thought in the morning. – Edna Lister, Keys to the Kingdom, 1945.

Perception grows more acute as awareness of disobedience to law increases. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, January 31, 1945.

You must remain alert, alive, and aware, not speaking a single word that you have not first considered. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, July 9, 1945.

Listen, and remain alive, alert and aware. Don't woolgather because what people say bores you. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, July 9, 1945.

It takes a constant vigilant battle to overcome the self to return to God. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, July 9, 1945.

The Master's Path is a long, continued struggle with the lower self until all soul debts are paid in full. Unless you are constantly watchful, you can slip back into a worse state than before, creating even greater debts than in the past. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, July 10, 1945.

Watch always for sly negatives, and don't let them creep in to put you in bondage. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, January 20, 1950.

Awareness is the awakening of consciousness. When you are unaware, you are unconscious. We are all aware of extremes such as love or hate, yet must synthesize all five senses into one for true awareness. – Edna Lister, Five Steps in Ascension, April 16,1950.

Many people live in a vague state; the world is unconscious of being unconscious. Intellectuals are conscious enough to desire to win arguments. Many of them are now becoming aware that what they have is not enough; intellect alone, without consciousness, is futile. Awareness is the awakening of consciousness. When you are unaware, you are unconscious, not paying attention. You are supposed to be aware of what approaches – a friend or danger. You are easily aware of love or hate. Yet you must synthesize the five senses into one for true soul awareness. – Edna Lister, What I Do Have, I Give, October 1, 1950.

The soul is perfect as an individualized manifestation in the image and likeness of God. That which is unconscious in a baby becomes conscious as you change the patterns of your life, and broaden into greater awareness and later, into full consciousness. – Edna Lister, Integrating Mind and Power, June 22, 1952.

"God first" means constant awareness of God's Presence in your life. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, December 18, 1952.

Awareness, recognition and acceptance take over, as the changes to consciousness begin. First is awareness of God as all potential Power. You become aware of "benefits," "miracles" and "added things." You are aware that "now we are the sons and daughters of God." It's not enough just to hear these words. You must become aware of what they mean. – Edna Lister, The Greater You, February 5, 1956.

Light makes you aware of your oneness with God, and of your responsibility and faithfulness to that oneness. – Edna Lister, Before Abraham Was, I AM, March 18, 1956.

Under the unity of the Spirit you have one hope, one faith, one baptism. "One baptism" is the White Light of the Christ – the Holy Spirit, Holy Ghost and Holy Breath as One, the source of the River of Life. It is the atomic substance and power in which you "live, move and have our being." You walk this Path of Light and glory whether you are aware or unaware. – Edna Lister, Go Preach the Gospel, July 22, 1956.

Watch suggestions that are really idle words. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, June 6, 1957.

Awareness is a conscious knowing, not vague uncertainty. Acceptance means "to consent to, to receive a gift, approval, or belief." To accept, you must make some sacrifice, give something up to make room. – Edna Lister, Threefold Nourishment, October 13, 1957.

Watch closely that you do not invest your life and soul substance in others. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, November 21, 1957.

Your highest point in consciousness is also your greatest weakness, because you are apt to lose awareness of how far you have climbed, how much you have gained, how much you have to lose. – Edna Lister, As God Sees Me, June 8, 1958.

Your highest point of exaltation may also be your greatest weakness because you are apt to lose your awareness. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, June 12, 1958.

In ascension, your first true awareness is the need to give up selfishness. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, August 28, 1958.

Apply what you know to what you hear to heighten your awareness; use your faculties, inner and outer. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, October 13, 1958.

There are no excuses for lack of awareness in a follower of the Via Christa. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, October 30, 1958.

Being eternally on watch for the stumbling block in your path is better than praising God on your face or thinking you are almost perfect. Ask God to keep your feet lifted, but you must observe. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, December 15, 1958.

To fall into intellect is retrogression; anything can happen from that moment of being unaware. When you ascend, you are aware again. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, February 16, 1959.

You lose high awareness through using idle words. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, December 14, 1959.

You must be able to hold awareness. To be alive, alert and alight is to be aware. – Edna Lister, Three Covenants Between God and Man, December 15, 1959.

Your measure of Power is your awareness of Power and how you put it to practice in ascension. – Edna Lister, What Is Your Measure of Power? June 12, 1960.

You must be aware of the beauty, the Power, the joy of conquering. You must become aware of the expansive quality of conquering. – Edna Lister, What Is Your Measure of Power? June 12, 1960.

Training must continue until complete awareness and comprehension takes charge. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, June 15, 1960.

To be responsible you must be vigilant. – Edna Lister, Steadfastness Through Vigilance, June 19, 1960.

The words between awareness and acceptance are "many are called, few are chosen." – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, October 10, 1960.

You must demand of the self perfection of alertness, awareness, of all that goes on about you, without self-excuses or justification. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, January 3, 1961.

You must remain aware of what you are doing, saying, thinking, and feeling every moment. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, October 13, 1961.

Not being alert and aware is exactly how your family, friends and critics catch you out on points of law. – Edna Lister, The Seven-Branched Candelabrum, October 24, 1961.

You must be alive, alight, alert and aware to talk to God. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, January 4, 1962.

Watch the tone of your thinking, and the tones of your voice. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, December 3, 1962.

Watch your step when you hear a raucous voice and "yakkety-yak." Someone's self is on the loose. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, March 7, 1963.

As long as you hold that high point of awareness of whom you serve, you are perfect. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, March 17, 1963.

You become aware from the lowest level of consciousness where you experience instinctive emotions. During the pause between the shock of awareness and subsequent action, you must recognize this "me" as the little self, and let this awareness of the first glimmering of your true identity as a son or daughter of God take charge. – Edna Lister, The Cross, June 23, 1963.

Let no dullness lower your vibration, lest you become unaware of danger, for it is as dangerous to be unaware and do nothing because of not seeing soon enough as it is to see and do nothing. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, July 5, 1963.

The Christos consciousness is alive and aware in action under acceptance and surrender. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, December 19, 1963.

As awareness increases, it becomes intuition and illumination. – Edna Lister, The Good Shepherd, November 1, 1964.

The secret of ascension, which also covers awareness, is attention to detail. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, November 30, 1964.

"Almost conscious" isn't good enough – it must be all or it is nothing. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, June 16, 1965.

Most people's difficulty is they cannot stay awake. Nobody can do it for you. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, June 16, 1965.

Awareness awakens when you hear the call to ascend in consciousness. When you become aware, you seek to let go of the old. You become aware of all captivity. The minute you say, "This is good. Let there be Light," the Master has led all captivity captive by freing you from your old captivity to idle words. You can ignore the bad days because the Light absorbs the bad every day until it dies of malnutrition. Darkness dies when you are a prisoner of the Light, when you are really aware. – Edna Lister, Truth as Practical Common Sense, November 28, 1965.

Being absolute perfection in alertness, awareness, wakefulness, rejoicing and compassion for world is possible. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, November 21, 1966.

Your destiny requires complete awareness, not a pseudo consciousness. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, December 2, 1966.

You need a constant watchfulness with no self, either self-delusion of grandeur or "self" in words or actions. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, April 23, 1967.

There is a difference between soul awareness and self confidence. The difference is slight, but cross that line downward and there is danger. It fast leads into inattention to a psychological warning bell, a dulling of that vital awareness of that subtle warning. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, May 5, 1967.

Demand more steadfastness, watchfulness and awareness of your self that tenfold Light shall meet and absorb the evil and darkness. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, September 3, 1967.

Awareness is a delicacy about feeling a vibration, carrying out each task under its release of Power. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, November 13, 1967.

If you are not aware, you don't apply what you know to what you are doing. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, December 4, 1967.

Unawareness allows opportunities to pass by unconsciously, even to being blind to them after they have passed. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, May 17, 1968.

Failure to be aware causes you to be laggard in ascension and binds you to the Wheel of Fate. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, May 21, 1968.

To be aware, you must be conscious that awareness is discerning recognition of everything through observation. Training in awareness is a personal matter. Too many spiritual teachers are so enraptured with the inner that they forget the importance of living here; they are not aware. Awareness is your greatest form of protection from the world. – Edna Lister, Awareness and Becoming Law, May 26, 1968.

Consciousness is awareness. Many live with only 20 percent awareness; 50 percent is generous for the majority. Some never move up from consciousness of anything beyond their physical body. Outside "world" awareness is not "Ascension" awareness. – Edna Lister, Three States of Consciousness, November 17, 1968.

Using pressure from the world as an excuse for lack of awareness leads to the black pit of unconsciousness. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, November 6, 1969.

The greater the Power, the greater the necessary awareness. Do not be a tempter by being unaware and oblivious. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, November 6, 1969.

Ascension is a constant work of acceptance and awareness that you are working out your own mental and material salvation. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, December 5, 1969.

From Materialism to Spiritual Awareness

Edna Lister created this sermon outline for September 9, 1934. Scripture: 2 Chronicles 30:1-20.

Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of the Lord at Jerusalem, to keep the Passover unto the Lord God of Israel. For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the Passover in the second month. For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves sufficiently, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem. And the thing pleased the king and all the congregation. So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the Passover unto the Lord God of Israel at Jerusalem: for they had not done it of a long time in such sort as it was written.

So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria. And be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, which trespassed against the Lord God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to desolation, as ye see. Now be ye not stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the Lord, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the Lord your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you. For if ye turn again unto the Lord, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.

So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even unto Zebulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them. Nevertheless divers of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem. Also in Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the Lord. And there assembled at Jerusalem much people to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great congregation. And they arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron. Then they killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought in the burnt offerings into the house of the Lord.

And they stood in their place after their manner, according to the law of Moses the man of God: the priests sprinkled the blood, which they received of the hand of the Levites. For there were many in the congregation that were not sanctified: therefore the Levites had the charge of the killing of the Passovers for every one that was not clean, to sanctify them unto the Lord. For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the Passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good Lord pardon every one that prepareth his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary. And the Lord hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people. – 2 Chronicles 30:1-20.

The world today seems to be in chaos. People are fumbling in the dark, trembling in fear. We must turn to God or we could lose another great civilization.

When Hezekiah, whose name means "strengthened by Jehovah," became king, he immediately cleansed the temple and sought to renew Israel's covenant with God. Then he issued a call to all the tribes, including Ephraim and Manasseh, which symbolize England and America.

For lack of consecration and purity, the priests and the congregation could not eat the Passover. They were stiff-necked and unyielding. You purify the self through surrender to and agreement with Christ in the midst of you, which creates flexibility of mind, emotions and body.

You build a bridge to the unseen by the love returned to you. Yet to do so, you must be so lavish with giving love that you glow with the Light your giving releases.

Giving love creates a glory so blinding, a glory so great, and freedom beyond man's ability to fathom – not freedom to do as you please for a few, but freedom for everyone. You should be working for tax-free homes instead of penal servitude, here and now.

Our call to arms is, "With me is the arm of Jehovah my God. Prepare ye the way." Does this ring in your heart? Does it answer your questions? Does it thrill you?

Everyone must now assemble at Jerusalem. When you seek sanctuary within the refuge, you shall not be moved. Your offerings must include a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep, burnt offerings for a thousand days.

When you offer that many gifts of self to bring wisdom and understanding, you will have all things, beyond your dreams for all. You can have as much as you like to earn.

"Prepare ye the way." What are you doing? Lifting is your gift to the world. You are free to express, yet the only way to do so rightly is to prepare the way by ascension of consciousness.

Awareness

Edna Lister created this sermon outline for May 3, 1942. Scriptures: 1 John 1:4-7 and 1 John 3:1-3.

These things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. – 1 John 1:4-7.

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. – 1 John 3:1-3.

Awareness is "a quality or state of being, the state of being informed and conscious, but without any action or active attention." You may be aware of a thing, then either forget it or pay attention to it.

You often become aware of something through intuition before you give it your personal attention. Thus, it forms a trinity of awareness, attention and action.

When you reach the action stage, you do something about it. You start something new, or do one step a day on an old project. You can always memorize just one line or paragraph of printed material you wish to master.

Now are we the sons and daughters of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be.

Five Steps in Ascension

Edna Lister created this sermon outline for April 16, 1950. Scripture: Acts 3:1-10.

Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God: And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. – Acts 3:1-10.

A miracle is either an instantaneous act or a slow process, according to your desire, awareness, recognition, acceptance and surrender. The length of the process of healing depends on the degree of your consciousness.

Desire is the Creative Impulse, a fundamental principle, which you bring with you to earth, and use turned either up or out and down into the world.

Awareness is the awakening of consciousness. When you are unaware, you are unconscious. You are supposed to be aware of whether a friend or danger is approaching. You are more easily aware of love or hate. Yet you must synthesize all five senses into one for true awareness.

Recognition, which means "to know again," is also a universal faculty. You use it to place a person or a thing within a frame of reference, to give it a name.

Acceptance is always personal. All too often people say, "I accept," when they really want to think about it and still not accept it. While acceptance is crucial to ascension, it is important not to accept resentment, blame or criticism as yours before you lift it.

Surrender of self is an act of soul. People dislike the idea of surrender, thinking that it means giving in to others. Yet you surrender to God first, then to love, to forgiveness and to Light. When you have truly surrendered, you are then lifted, filled, used and happy because God needs you.

A certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. – Acts 3:2-3.

Jesus said, "Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." – Matthew 28:20. Peter was with John at the Temple. "With" means you are never alone. It's never a case of God and you, but God with you as you. Like Peter, you can say, "What I have, I can give always," for I have the Light of the Creator. The creature consciousness dwells in the darkness of self. Only a creator has the desire and the will power to surrender freely to God.

All things are made of this Light, which is always flowing and available. The Light does the work as the Power. Light is the way of ascension.

All you do and all you can use is Light to create the right emotional and mental conditions for God to move in and heal. When you use a weak love, poor in quality, it causes delay. If you want time, as length, instead of quality, you must leave so much out, which is the difference between now and later.

You receive the hidden riches from above when you create from Light. At first glance, ascension is like being a mountain climber, climbing, staying level or descending. Yet true ascension is going up always.

Jesus will return as he left. When he ascended, he rose into heaven and disappeared. At his return, he will be unseen by the world of men, seen only by a few, riding on a cloud. To think and declare, "He has come! He is here!" is the creator's attitude of expectancy. The creature expects to be hurt, and thus fears. The creator lives in fervent anticipation of more Light, life and glory.

I am health, wealth, love, for I am become rich, I have found me out substance. – Hosea 12:8.

Awareness and Becoming Law 2

This Edna Lister sermon transcript is dated May 26, 1968. Scribes: Elizabeth Barnes, Ruth Johnson, Florence Waldorf and Irene White. Scripture: Romans 8:16-39.

To be aware, you must be conscious that awareness is "conscious recognition of everything through observation." Training in awareness is a personal matter.

Too many truth teachers and the greatest Christians become so enraptured with God that they forget the importance of living here. They will walk through life unaware of what others are doing because they are not aware.

Awareness is supposed to record what is hidden behind the action. To be really aware, to grasp the meaning of what someone has said prevents conflicts and misunderstandings due to lack awareness and recognition.

Awareness is your greatest form of protection from the world. Be aware. Do not spend most of your time unaware, tearing down what you did while consciously aware.

To become implies growth and a goal. The whole world is half blind and in upheaval. Explosions are happening in every department of life. Yet we have no place to hide anymore. We cannot get away from the riots and marches and social explosion.

What happens to you now depends on how you meet the new world of change. The time was when people got together in town meetings to understand each other. Now they are too busy.

The religious world, too, is flooded with ministers, sons of Belial, the father of lies, who are subverting ritual. What you do determines what you will have. Every change is a challenge. How are you meeting it?

Tomorrow is yours. You cannot do much about the past. Instead, you must recondition your body and the world. Individuals make every neighborhood, city and state. God can recondition the world through you and the people in it.

What are you planning for your tomorrow? Today is a tomorrow that you have made. You are the challenger, not the evil. Stand up in the Light, in devotion to God. You can challenge darkness with every breath – every good thought and deed is a challenge to darkness, which folds in on itself.

The difference in the power degree of Light now is the difference between a camel and a jet. Science, with its radio astronomy telescopes, has reached out light years beyond our computing to measure quasars emitting radio signals. We find the vibrations of other stars are the same as in our galaxy. Science has found similarity out there. Everything is made of one Substance, one Mind, and one Power. Only one God-substance exists, but do you seek the comprehension of what it means?

The idea permeating the universe is to become like God. This idea has penetrated humanity, making them want to be alike, causing the demonstrations and riots. They fail to understand or take into consideration that everyone who sets his foot on the path of perfection is different.

Those chanting, "Better Red than dead," are saying that we should become communists rather than die in an atomic blast. The "God is dead" intellectuals, led by Nietzsche, say that we would do better without religion. These statements are challenges to change, because the Light moving through us challenges their darkness. The challenge to you and to me is to stand in the Light, to become the law, and to walk the Via Christa, the Way of Christ.

For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. – Romans 7:15-16. Paul was wrestling with his soul here, with the corruption of the body, as we do ourselves. Modern psychologists now agree that emotions can cause physical ills.

In the Letter to Romans, the eighth chapter, Paul is writing about the doctrine of many lives and spiritual debt. Anyone who has a goal is walking his predestined path. My conscience is divine Mind reminding me, "You are under the laws of eternity."

Destiny means "a goal." The river of divine Mind flowing through you is the voice of conscience. We also call this the River of Life, which holds the Emanations flowing eternally in cyclic waves. If you do not catch the idea the first time, God sends it to you for a second round.

The stiff-necked have taints of opinion and prejudice, and may be fanatics. One who will not drink or smoke has learned his lesson, but pride and rebellion can give him a "holier than thou" attitude. God uses your taints, such as pride, as His hooks to bring you home. God knows His business and takes care of His business.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. – Romans 8:29-30.

Before God sent you to earth, He planned what you had to do to be enfolded home again. Do you believe you are a creator, predestined to return home? The heavenly Council inscribes the memory of your calling on your brain cells. Your destiny is written into your mind. You could not have a high goal unless God opened the way before you came here. However, some souls refuse to follow their calling. The moderns so often do not want to follow law, but to be free of it.

"Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called." Heavenly Councils only call on individuals on earth who have a plan and goal, with their endocrine glands open to divine Mind. When a sinner experiences the touch of conscience, Light has brushed him.

Those who follow their calling had set a high goal before they came here. Those at the level of creature consciousness are challenging the descended creators who do have a mission.

Nowhere did Jesus say it would be easy. The Via Christa is a narrow path. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. – Matthew 19:24. How will you get your humps through the eye of the needle?

Some say that heaven is all joy, music, harps and fluffy clouds. Yet, you always take your self with you as you return to God. Under the Plan of Salvation, you work with the people of earth to bring them home. The Elect all work with the Legions of Christ on battlefields at night. Angelic hosts stand over the souls who are crystallized in their bodies, praying and declaring that they are free.

Heaven is not a place where you can sit and wait for the growth to come. God never rests. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. – Psalm 121:4. Conquering self is the way of the Christ. You must be alive, alert, and aware to do this. Declare, "I am the Light. I am a challenge to darkness. I am possessed by the Light of God, which is the glory of God, who knows all things, which is my destiny." Surrender to become an ambassador of Light.

People may call you names, or say that you are crazy. If I am crazy, I am glad. You must be unusual, above the world, not to let darkness conquer.

Do not be permissive, or allow darkness to flourish. You can and must challenge evil through declarations and prayer. Shout louder mentally than people can use their voices. "Jesus Christ is standing beside you, and you are healed." It works.

Be a Christed challenger of evil. God has control, but could use your help in conquering evil. You must become an active challenger to darkness. God uses anybody who will release the Power, so be a challenger and shout with the voice of the Almighty. Evil cannot stand the blast of the full Power of God through you. Treat as you go, to challenge and conquer darkness. You are part of an army, marching back to God. Yet by shouting to challengers of God, you can turn the protest marchers in the right direction, around and back up to God.

Only you can can cut off the Power of God moving through you. Your silent work stands and will not make a mockery of you. Mentally say, "You are a son or daughter of God, and His Light flows through you. You are good. Your words are good." This is the Power of God doing the work.

Declare, "Father, make me an instrument of Thy will, surrendered for Thee to use, to send Power through to save the world." Our declarations are taking evil out of this world.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? – Romans 8:35.

Stand on principle. Endure what comes. Hold fast to God. Power will pass through the world according to our ability to release it. The universe stands steadfast and firm. Orbit around the Light. Walk in an auric sheath of Light to protect yourself from illness, thoughts, and accidents.

When you experience delay in a miracle, declare, "This is enough delay. Let it come now." God is behind the scenes doing the work. God does the work. As you become law, you become aware that He does the work.

You and I are conquerors, challengers of darkness and creators of a perfect, whole, complete tomorrow. Light moves through us now and uses us to the honor and glory of God, for the healing of bodies and affairs. Indifference is a lack of compassion.

Awareness is supernatural knowing. All you need is the ability to challenge the darkness mightily, knowing that you are predestined. Only the predestined are called.

In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:37-39.

New Testament on Awareness

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. – Matthew 25:13.

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. – Matthew 26:41.

Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. – Mark 13:35-37.

Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God. – 1 Corinthians 15:34.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. – Ephesians 5:6-14.

Etymology of awareness: Old English wær, "watchful."

Awareness is a soul virtue.

Awareness is a mental faculty.

Awareness is an initiatory degree.

The Waking

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree; but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me, so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go."
Theodore Roethke

Quote

We all know that, as the old adage has it, "It is later than you think." ..., but I also say occasionally: "It is lighter than you think." In this light let's not look back in anger, or forward in fear, but around in awareness. – James Thurber
