Letting

To let means "to give permission, to allow to pass, to loose one's hold of, let go, to desist, forbear, to set free, liberate, to abstain from interfering with or paying attention to a person or thing, to abstain from doing an action."

Self regards "letting" as being a passive doormat. Yet "to let" means to cause or to command dynamically, as in the soul commanding the self and causing it to ascend. Letting is a law of doing under the absolute principle of nonresistance. Letting is the individual's application of the principle of nonresistance. Letting, without attempting to control the outcome, is usually a stiff initiation.

Edna Lister on Letting

Speak the Word and send it out, radiate it out over the whole world. The word "let" is the release of the Power. Your closing declaration should be something like this: "These words are spirit and they are life. These words are now established. These words are now finished in the kingdom and they shall become visible. Let them come to pass. Let them come into manifestation. Let them be established, Let these words go forth and do the work." – Edna Lister, Unpublished Lectures, January 20, 1933.

You work by letting God do the work unobtrusively, taking no credit to self but giving God the whole and complete credit. – Edna Lister, A Design for Ascension, 1941.

All you need do at any place along the Path is to become aware that being healed is possible. Healing is "letting" the Mind of God operate as your thinking and planning. Healing is "letting" the Power of God quicken you into a divine desire for activity. Healing is "letting" the substance of the Spirit vitalize the very cells into the ability to change.

Letting is the cleansing, purifying process of Spirit. The thinking and planning phase of "letting" changes subconscious habits of illness, lack or any limitation into a flaming desire to be whole. "Letting" opens the physical cells or affairs to the Power-filled recreation of their substance into perfection. – Edna Lister, A Design for Ascension, 1941.

Have you sunk from letting the Light do the work and using you? – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, February 13, 1941.

God has given the soul the power of conscious direction and control through the spoken Word. God has given universal substance only the power to become the vibration the spoken Word decrees. "Let" is the only spoken Word that substance recognizes. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, June 29, 1945.

Everyone faces this initiation at some point in life. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, May 29, 1957.

"Let" is the only legal claim. All adepts believe that God made the laws of the universe for their use, but no one may make a demand on God's law. Adepts, who love to control, must accept that they must "let" God use them. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, June 6, 1957.

Never let go of God or His Light, but always let go of self and the world. – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, August 26, 1964.

You must increase our knowledge of "let." To declare "let" is a right thing to do. However, you may set no time limit on the "let," for even God does not know how much time it will take for individuals to change or be ready. Power works through barriers, consuming opinions and prejudices, and finally God slips in a hooked poniard of truth. For your one "let," your Guards say it for you a hundred times in another direction. When your nose rubs it, you are ready to say "let." An inadvertent word or tone can change the vibration, under earth law; sometimes cross-vibrations delay you. Say one little "let" and God says it ten times more, and His "let" has chronological age. Call the delay good, keep saying, "let," and you will see visions of many more and higher "lets." – Edna Lister, Unpublished Papers, October 23, 1967.

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. – Romans 12:5-9.

As the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long suffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection, and let the peace of God rule in your hearts and be thankful. – Colossians 3:12-14.

Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom. – Colossians 3:15-16.

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. Etymology of letting: Old English lætan "to allow to remain; let go, leave, depart from; leave undone; to allow; bequeath," also "to rent," from Proto-Germanic letan (cognates: Old Saxon latan, Old Frisian leta, Dutch laten, German lassen, Gothic letan "to leave, let"), from Proto-Indo-European le- "to let go, slacken."
