Repudiation

To repudiate means "to cast off, to disown, to refuse to accept; to reject as unauthorized or as having no authority or binding force on one, to refuse to discharge or acknowledge a debt or other obligation one owes; to deny the truth or validity of."

Self, which is largely a host of appetites, often repudiates moral and ethical obligations that are binding on soul, thus tainting the soul and creating yet more spiritual debt. Repudiation of responsibility for a brother's welfare is mankind's greatest psychological and moral sin. Expecting to be taken care of lifelong is equally wrong.

Edna Lister on Repudiation

Those who repudiate truth become deaf to the truth. – Edna Lister, Fulfillment, December 5, 1937.

You always have to take something you dislike with what you like. – Edna Lister, October 26, 1939.

Sacrifice the self, and repudiate the ways of darkness and acts of evil. – Edna Lister, The Way of Surrender, June 14, 1942.

Never object under any circumstances, but always accept. Objections reveal resentment, and that an "I know more than you" attitude is under the surface. – Edna Lister, Doing the Work of the Christ, October 20, 1946.

The universal Christ consciousness is awakening again in this age, and the signs of its fulfillment are the world's rising evil and confusion caused by man's repudiation of the Light. – Edna Lister, Revolution versus Evolution, April 16, 1950.

Eliminate the taint of repudiating people, for while such an attitude may drive them away temporarily, they will always seek to climb back into the nest. – Edna Lister, To Seek the Light, June 10, 1951.

If you repudiate the debt, you must pay it again. – Edna Lister, July 6, 1954.

Dares to listen, to change, to declare everything good. See Light moving into the dark places, dare to let Light incorporate any darkness — not to repudiate it — in its plan by declaring it good. – Edna Lister, August 14, 1955.

Woe unto one who knows truth, but repudiates his responsibility. – Edna Lister, Forgiveness, September 25, 1955.

"I can't stomach that" is repudiating responsibility for lifting, which causes many stomach ailments. – Edna Lister, The Brain, Your Instrument of Power, September 24, 1957.

When anyone reaches a saturation point of refusing to accept the law or repudiating a higher truth, he is "set" at that highest possible rate of vibration of law he has attained, so that he may not fall lower. – Edna Lister, October 4, 1957.

Atheists fear God and constantly repudiate Him. Agnostics, who do not understand God, continually question His existence. Atheists and agnostics discuss God much more often than do the religious. You worship whatever you believe in, be it an image, the void of atheism, the confusion of agnosticism, or the true Source of all Light. – Edna Lister, November 24, 1957.

The masses repudiate truth, like children who fear God may punish them. As Adam said, "I heard Thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, and I hid myself" – Genesis 3:10. – Edna Lister, May 12, 1958.

Science, which represents man's best efforts at understanding the laws of the natural world, has revolutionized our world — steamships, railroads, buses, cars, airplanes. From doing our laundry on rocks in the stream, we have moved through scrubbing boards and hand-wringers to electric washers and spin-dryers. We have moved from spring-houses and wells with buckets to running water, refrigerators, and deep freezers. Yet man still repudiates the Light, repudiates his responsibility, refuses to be his brother's keeper. In all this, man denies God. – Edna Lister, June 8, 1958.

When you leave the body at night, you appear before an Inner Council for a just appraisal of your day, which you may accept or repudiate. If you accept, you return in the morning intending to do better today. If you repudiate, you feel depressed, irritable and low. – Edna Lister, Eight Great Powers of Being, June 23, 1959.

Contraction and repudiation condense and crystallize the soul. – Edna Lister, Heaven as a State of Consciousness and a Place, June 16, 1959.

From the moment conscious mind of the rational soul accepts responsibility, makes a stand and declares complete cleansing of the subconscious, the appetitive soul poses a constant series of choices between self and God, between acceptance and repudiation of law. – Edna Lister, How Can I Help Myself? May 31, 1960.

Be sure to add the fatal words of repudiation, "Why, I didn't say that," to your list of taints. If you did not say it, you thought it, and your thoughts were as loud as words. – Edna Lister, October 14, 1960.

All your difficulties come through repudiation of law, being frightened, weary, or bored. – Edna Lister, December 4, 1960.

Those who repudiate Jesus Christ do not know him or the truth of his being. The Elect, however, have established their own identity with God and with Jesus as the Christ. – Edna Lister, December 10, 1961.

The mineral, vegetable and animal kingdoms of evolution are all forms of ascension. Yet, God has given only man the power of free choice, to accept or to repudiate. You may choose to ascend today or tomorrow. – Edna Lister, Christ Now Reigns, March 18, 1962.

If you repudiate your responsibility to complete a task, you meet it in seven different, harder ways. – Edna Lister, April 2, 1962.

You can tell the difference between one who repudiates his lessons and one who accepts life as a school by the way they adjust to life.

– Edna Lister, Heaven, a Place to Fill, April 10, 1962.

The multitudes who went before and who followed, cried out, saying, Hosanna to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest! – Matthew 21:9. Jesus taught us how to receive praise in this one outstanding Palm Sunday act. If you repudiate praise, you disobey law. Even if it's rank flattery, or to get something from you, accept praise as though it were coming from God Himself. God turns it into good when you accept words of praise and term them good. – Edna Lister, Loyalty, April 15, 1962.

Procrastination affects the stomach; it is an evasion of duty, repudiation of responsibility or acceptance of responsibility with a grudge. – Edna Lister, Metaphysical Correspondences, May 29, 1962.

Lukewarmness follows the law of repudiation, under which you can achieve nothing. – Edna Lister, November 29, 1962.

"I don't like it. I can't accept that" is repudiation. Repudiate nothing. – Edna Lister, January 10, 1963.

Repudiation is the greatest block to progress, a great zero, and it has no sense. To repudiate anything, even unconsciously, pushes everything good away with the thing you repudiate. – Edna Lister, January 10, 1963.

Repudiation spreads like spores propagate a fungus. You dare not live by repudiation or denial, or you will push away all good. – Edna Lister, January 10, 1963.

If you repudiate your responsibility to release God's Power, you shall suffer, and it could include physical pain. – Edna Lister, June 17, 1963.

Every time you make a gift of darkness to the Father, look up, embrace everything you hear, lift, and give it up to Him. Do not brace against it, embrace it to lift it to God. Embrace blame as it comes, even if it is a lie. Someone must remove the lie from the soul who repudiates you. Lift it into Light rather than blighting him with a debt of blame. Otherwise, you pay a double debt, his and yours, when you blame. – Edna Lister, The Crown of Glory, July 14, 1963.

Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. – Proverbs 8:33. To "hear" means to listen. Take in the instruction and wait until you comprehend it without repudiation. – Edna Lister, Before the Beginning, I Am, November 3, 1963.

Do not repudiate your experiences. When you ask to be perfected, your tarnished places will show where you need polishing. For example, another may interpret a look on your face as words, so you may not say, "I didn't say that." Agree with the adversary. Do not repudiate polishing even one of the 144 soul virtues. – Edna Lister, Before the Beginning, I Am, November 3, 1963.

You need just two elements, Light and acceptance. You brought Light with you to earth, so let this Light possess you. It is a matter of accepting, and not repudiating one little speck of it. The hard thing is to ascend while ignoring what is here in the world. Willingly walk through the worldly mud to reach the beauty of the other side. – Edna Lister, Before the Beginning, I Am, December 1, 1963.

Whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. – Matthew 10-33. To deny means not to accept or to hold. Weak men may repudiate Christ on earth, yet he leaves them in their own class. He knows they cannot be held responsible for their sins, for they are not yet ready for ascension. This is Christ's way of protecting and saving the weak, and giving them time to mature in spiritual strength. – Edna Lister, April 19, 1964.

Self‑saving excuses and explanations repudiate personal responsibility. – Edna Lister, June 28, 1964.

If you repudiate what you had, you forget it — it's wiped out as self puts soul memory to sleep. – Edna Lister, September 3, 1964.

Your creations are always with you, so repudiating them does no good. You can't say, "This is not mine. I didn't create it. I do not deserve this." You may forget, but your creations follow you. So, you must acknowledge the law, "Only my own can come to me." – Edna Lister, February 14, 1965.

The nearer one is to the animal kingdom, the more he criticizes and repudiates. This is a holdover of the creature's instinctive behavior, and a reason for war and conflict. God cannot just wave a wand and heal them. God's spiritual Power is increasing while so many people stand still. You may not half-accept, speak from both corners of your mouth or play put-it-off. – Edna Lister, November 7, 1965.

Conquer repudiation, for it cuts off your spiritual life. – Edna Lister, November 7, 1965.

Prejudice against anything fosters and becomes repudiation of Light. Every rejection on the outside is born of a stumbling block inside. – Edna Lister, November 28, 1965.

When a person or a culture denies God or Jesus the Christ, it universally and generally repudiates all responsibility. With no check on your moral life, deterioration sets in. Without a belief anchored in God above, people repudiate responsibility. – Edna Lister, December 5, 1965.

Accept or repudiate, it is your choice. – Edna Lister, May 9, 1966.

When you meet the same lesson repeatedly, you are repudiating God's desire for you. When you learn the lesson, it stops coming because you have ceased repudiating God. – Edna Lister, October 20, 1966.

Close out worldly vibrations; permit them no entry to your mind. For example, if you hear a lie and let it live in your consciousness, it fastens a line to your mental sanctuary. When you repudiate a lie, you release the Light to absorb it. – Edna Lister, November 13, 1966.

Repudiation closes your brain cells. If you persist in repudiating, they will eventually be unable to open. – Edna Lister, May 7, 1967.

You live with and think either acceptance or repudiation. Too many base their lives on repudiation of all they hear. Opinions and prejudices close the mind to anything new, to life itself, which leads to premature senility. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him that hath not, shall be taken away even that which he hath. – Matthew 25:29. Exercise what you have or the brain cells either soften or harden. Accept what comes to you. – Edna Lister, May 9, 1967.

Unless you present them with facts, most people repudiate everything but what they can see on the outer. Stop repudiating everything! Declare that everything that comes to you is a gift. That way you hold your high point in consciousness. To say, "This is good," takes less effort than it does to repudiate anything. Make every experience pay you dividends. – Edna Lister, May 14, 1967.

Repudiation is a curse to everyone, yet everyone does it at some point. The soul sees perfection, which he then repudiates because he cannot face himself; he denies his guilt. – Edna Lister, May 14, 1967.

Repudiation works many ways. You may experience repudiation as snubs, delays, being mocked or belittled. You, in turn, can repudiate in defense of something you possess as your own or in fear of losing something. Repudiation wrecks the peace of everyone involved. Put all repudiators on a cloud of Light to keep the peace vibration alive. – Edna Lister, June 11, 1967.

"I can't do it" is repudiation of the truth that I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. – Philippians 4:13. God knows what you can do, so declare you shall do it in the right way at the right time. – Edna Lister, June 14, 1967.

People are rejecting false gods and the lies of propagandists, repudiating being compartmentalized, pigeonholed. Declare, "I repudiate, I ignore, I forget all things of the past except that which I am inspired to do or live. I stand in the Light." – Edna Lister, October 15, 1967.

Repudiate evil be declaring Light! – Edna Lister, The Seven Ultimate Natures of Deity, October 24, 1967.

Opinions and prejudices automatically repudiate truth. When you repudiate truth, you "blow up" inside and become ill. – Edna Lister, May 23, 1968.

Moses destroyed the tablets of the law that God had given him, then he was told to hew two stone tables like those he had broken. The law is that when you repudiate a gift, you must then make or earn the next one through hard labor of both time and energy. – Edna Lister, December 8, 1968.

Any form of repudiation creates mental blocks. – Edna Lister, December 8, 1968.

You must lift repudiation, which, to quote Shakespeare, is "the devil incarnate" of self. – Edna Lister, February 9, 1969.

To repudiate before you accept is not good enough. Accept everything as a gift from God. – Edna Lister, Let There Be Light, May 11, 1969.

Never resent delay or interruption because frustration is repudiation, which closes the Gates of Heaven and shuts off the Power. To accept the delay releases Power from the Source draws life and Light through you to heal. – Edna Lister, November 15, 1970.

Senility arises from repudiation, refusing to accept or see truth, which is common among those who brought the tendency not to awaken enough active cells of acceptance with them into this life. – Edna Lister, May 27, 1971.

When you dwell on "I won't. I don't" or "I can't," you are repudiating God. – Edna Lister, Undated Papers, 1924-1971.
