The Silver Cord

“Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; while the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain: In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened, and the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low; also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets: Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.” — Ecclesiastes 12:1-8.

The silver cord refers to the line of dense Light — invisible to ordinary vision but visible to clairvoyant sight — composed of a thousand strands, connecting the embodied soul with its Oversoul portion above. At the moment of conception, when the incoming soul takes possession of the parent cells, the sperm and the ovum, it begins building the body it will occupy, from the heart, from the the sinoatrial node and the atrioventricular node. 1

Burning away the silver cord is like cutting the umbilical cord after birth. Completion of the first 33 Degrees of the Via Christa loosens the silver cord, but you may burn it away only under definite sincerity in sacrificing the little self. You cannot do this on credit, but only as you fall in love with God. Your soul’s fervor heats your creative fire to the melting point necessary to dissolve the atomic bonds anchoring the molecules of the silver cord to the parent cells and the spinal vertebrae. You burn away a bit of the silver cord each time you sacrifice self or cleanse the beauty of your soul.

First, you must loosen the silver cord from the two original parent cells in the heart. Your sacrifice unhooks a strand of it to disconnect from the heart, replacing it with a strand of golden Light, which can cause some odd reactions. As long as the silver cord is still strongly attached, you may feel a pull on it that causes you to jerk awake while you are falling asleep; it feels as though you are falling back into your body. You may stagger as you get up quickly, or feel heart flutters or a momentary sharp pain. When you experience vertigo, quickly declare, “I love Thee, God. Let Thy Power move through me freely.” Yet a word of caution — if you believe you are developing a heart condition, you will.

When you have burned away half the strands of the silver cord, the memory impressions remaining in the medulla oblongata become a serious physical problem and you must lift them or face heart trouble. The payment for stolen time is to put more fervor in everything you do. Otherwise, you fill your memory cells with guilt and regret. Your personal soul records are stored in the neurons of the midbrain and you must lift the functioning of your brain cells to see the records. The optic nerves bring the five senses together at the optic chiasm, located at the bottom of the brain immediately below the hypothalamus. As you burn away the silver cord, ascension demands that you enlarge the thymus gland, and to do so, you must pay your soul debts. — Edna Lister, September 25, 1950.

The parathalamus gland-like structures have been developing within the Elect since 1936; physiologists do not yet fully understand their function within the brain. The right parathalamus gland vitalizes and quickens the pituitary, while the left vitalizes and quickens the pineal body. These infinitesimal structures are organs of immortality, comprehension, spiritual hearing and seeing, which are not really enlivened until you extend your vision. They expand slightly every time you try to see or wonder about truth. As you aspire and ascend, Light seeps in to open them.

A seer will have well-developed parathalamus structures that are about the size of a grain of rice. You cannot see or hear spiritually unless the desire body’s optic nerves cross the optic chiasma of the thalamus to connect the right and left parathalamus structures. You burn away the silver cord from the heart center first, then from one spinal vertebra at a time up to the golden bowl, the skull. The cord’s strands are wrapped around the nerves in the spinal column. You cannot burn the strands away without a burning desire to give up self. When you willingly sacrifice self, the cord lets go and slips off the vertebra, freeing it to the next anchor. The cord cannot descend again once you have burned it away.

The spinal nerves cross over at the pyramidal decussation at the pons of the medulla oblongata; three or four strands of the silver cord, related to the selfish taints that you are conquering, may stick there although you may have ascended the rest. Each of the 1,000 strands represents a virtue that you must perfect — the secret of the 1,000 burnt offerings that Solomon made at the high place in Gibeon. Declare everything good — “This is good, and very good. Let there be Light!” burns self away.

The 1,000 strands are reassembled in the midbrain until every neuron extends tiny runners that spread throughout the midbrain, interconnecting the nerves, sending one strand each to the 1,000-petaled lotus at the crown of the mental body. Each strand from the midbrain hooks into the center of the Oversoul star, symbolized as a blue five-pointed star. When this process of burning away the silver cord is complete, the golden cord descends, so you still have the means, the golden cord, to climb for ascension and furling in the Light. The remnant of the silver cord is coiled to become the heart of the crown lotus. You either believe that you can do this, or do not. Make up your mind and hold fast to this truth. “In the name of Jesus the Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, let this ascension be complete. Thank Thee, Father, that this is the truth of my soul now.” — Edna Lister, March 29, 1962.

The silver cord is enfolded in and anchored at several places along the the spinal cord, the heart, and within the golden bowl. Unless the silver cord is firmly fastened in the cartilage between the final lumbar and first thoracic vertebrae, the heart and body will be weak. If you are reluctant to come to earth, your silver cord will be but loosely attached to the two parent cells within the heart, and you will be physically weak through life. The silver cord also fastens under the hollow at the base of the skull, at the Atlas vertebra. The last of the soul taints are lodged in the pons of the medulla oblongata, so you undergo testings or take initiations. When you pass them, you lift the taints. The silver cord passes through the midbrain to the cortex, then to the Oversoul star. You must lift your soul taints before the silver cord reaches that point. — Edna Lister, April 20, 1964.

The silver cord terminates in curled hooks at either end that, at conception, attach into the masculine and feminine seeds of life, the sperm and ovum, like a key into a lock. These cells form the nucleus of the heart in the fetus, becoming the electrical conduction system, the sinoatrial node and the atrioventricular node, as the heart develops to maturity.

To ascend fully, you must burn away the silver cord as it slips up the spine, bone by bone. Knifing back pain c an be a sign that the silver cord is trapped. The more highly intuitive chiropractors and osteopaths use body manipulation to adjust the spine, which frees the silver cord. Various forms of insanity inevitably result when the silver cord is trapped for several successive lives. To climb back to the Source, you must attach your Oversoul’s golden cord to your silver cord until they are hooked together above the Atlas vertebra at the base of your skull. — Edna Lister, February 3, 1966.

The truth of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale is this: Before you descended, your Supreme Oversoul, which is pure spirit, was put to sleep. The other three phases of soul as you — appetitive soul, rational soul and Oversoul — as a Christed one, a begotten creator god, descended to earth. God has given you these phases of soul to function on earth as mind in three phases — the subconscious, conscious and super-conscious.

You must bring all phases of your soul to full function here, in the body, to burn away the silver cord, to be free of outer physical weight, for the silver cord is attached to the body in the heart of the crown lotus, an atomic structure. One end of the cord enters the ark of the mother, the womb, and attaches at the heart center of the soul’s newly forming body; the other end is attached to the heart of the Oversoul. The Oversoul awakens and descends on your acceptance of personal responsibility in life, and depending on how high you ascend into the Light. There is always a higher Source of Light to which to ascend.

As the begotten creator gods, the Elect, begin really to love and to ascend, not just to think about it, one day their Supreme Oversoul will begin to awaken. You must pass seven great initiations — Rebirth, Baptism by Water, Baptism by Fire, Transfiguration, Crucifixion, Resurrection, and Ascension — to awaken the Supreme Oversoul, which will o’ershadow you in high moments of soul illumination.

If you have unbound the silver cord, it ascends the spine to the Atlas vertebra, where it will stick on any remaining soul taints, such as repudiation. Taints prevent the silver cord from rising through the optic chiasm of the thalamus into the crown lotus center, where it awaits the soul’s further ascension. When it touches the Oversoul star on soul flights, the golden cord from the Supreme Oversoul begins to extend downward. The glory of the days you nearly reach the Source act as the spur to your efforts to ascend.

You cannot imagine the responsibility and the effects of disobedience once you attach the silver cord to the golden cord! The law then is so stringent, and you know it is inflexible — it can’t be changed to suit the soul’s wants or desires. At this point, you must praise God a thousand times an hour, praise everything always to endure the cleansing! This is what you are experiencing. If the silver cord is stuck, only praise, and love of God with no consideration of darkness, can free it. You may see evil only to lift. No idle words are permissible, no whining “What do I do?” in an initiation. The answer is always the same, “This is good. Let there be Light.” Declare it good and declare it Light.

If you experience headaches at the base of your skull, treat for frozen memory platelets in the medulla oblongata. Declare the crystallization is dissolved and Light is filling every atom of the body. In the morning, stand by the bed, reach for the stars and say, “Name, get into your body and reinflate the atoms!” This will raise your self from the dead and leave your body alive.
