Immorality

Immorality is any act or practice which contravenes the divine commands or the social duties. Injustice, dishonesty, fraud, slander, profaneness, gaming, intemperance, lewdness, are immoralities. All crimes are immoralities; but crime expresses more than immorality.—Webster’s American Dictionary
  To be immoral is being inconsistent with moral rectitude; contrary to the moral or divine law; wicked; unjust; dishonest; vicious. Every action is immoral which contravenes any divine precept, or which is contrary to the duties which men owe to each other. Wicked or unjust in practice; vicious; dishonest; as an immoral man. Every man who violates a divine law or a social duty, is immoral but we particularly apply the term to a person who habitually violates the laws.—Webster’s American Dictionary

Immorality describes the condition of being immoral. The definition of immorality has been watered-down over time to be merely contrary to established moral principles. An immoral person deforms his soul and thus his character; therefore he commonly demonstrates unethical conduct. The immoral soul’s twisted nature seeks to subvert the good and to mislead others.

Immorality is a sin, and usually entertains vice. Immorality is the result of the conditioning to perversion of morals among youth or another group. It is the sign of a damaged or broken moral compass. Immorality is the precursor to amorality, having no moral compass at all, the hallmark of the sociopath.

Imagination is a river of illusion to some, nothing more than mistaken ideas. Yet imagination follows a blueprint shaped in mind. If you believe what you imagine, so it is. Imagination, when controlled by self, produces all illusions and determines the world’s ideas. Imagination influences all accomplishments and experiences. No man makes law, for law is. The foundation of law is eternal and indestructible. Yet man can twist and pervert the expressions of law, and even attempt to nullify divine law through man-made sophistries and legislation. The number of the Beast is 666. The number six signifies womanhood. and the beast uses women for prostitution, slave traffic, all perversions under the misuse of love as mere sex; criminals prey on the misuse of love. Six multiplied by three totals eighteen, which represents integrating heaven and earth or trying to separate earth from heaven.
  Unfortunately, the profaners of religious symbols and truth inevitably tend to degrade the true meanings of symbols over time. For example, Osiris and Isis brought the mystery of the soul’s immortality to earth, but it degenerated into venerating mummies and worshiping idols of humans with the heads of birds and animals. Misuse of the creative fire is the work of the beast in action.
  Man has only the one Creative Impulse within, which is the Spirit of the living God. You use the creative fire on every level of reality for everything from religious devotion to writing, singing, cooking, bricklaying, and for the physical expression of love. Its misuse of any level creates what we call the mark of the beast, meaning that the force of your misused mental, emotional and physical expressions creates black clouds and thought forms. The misused soul substance and force return to you as the aggregate of what we call your own dweller on the threshold of consciousness.—Edna Lister, November 29, 1951.

Every great civilization has fallen when the worshippers of darkness have made perversions and immorality legal. Step by step, the innocent and faithful lost their sense of discrimination, and fell.—Edna Lister, July 15, 1953.

Frenzied or hypnotically rhythmic dancing, movements, and dissonant, discordant music will open the lower creative center and encourage perversions and misuse of the creative fire.—Edna Lister, December 10, 1953.

A virgin soul is one who has gone through all experiences, who stands on the path looking back with horror and chooses to move up and face the Light. Experiences do not defile the soul, but appetites such as drinking, overeating and perversions are also sins and misuse of the creative fire. Those who permit appetitive soul to rule the senses have defiled themselves. They must cleanse their souls of these appetitive desires and be purified of the soul taints before they can ascend.—Edna Lister, June 10, 1958.

After going astray on the mysteries of love, the fallen ones perverted and degraded the mysteries of the Mother, using them to gain control of mankind. All perversions of appetites, whether drink, food, drugs in all forms, and especially possession of other souls through appetite for physical expressions, such as sex, are primarily misuse of the mysteries of the Mother. Therefore, it is necessary for the Elect to clean up the misuse of all love powers by those who have come to earth since the advent of Jesus the Christ.
  Our Master honored and exalted womanhood, by opening the vibration of love. The only way to reach the Source is through love, a sublimated love that goes far beyond outer satisfaction of greed for possession. To be greedy about jewels, furs, houses, furniture, or social position is as much a misuse of the Mother’s mysteries regarding substance as it is to be greedy about the physical expression of love. The Parable of the Prodigal Son illustrates the effects of immorality—he ended by eating the husks fed to swine. Those who live by sex urges, fornication, perversion, and animal instincts are among the lowest expressions of this. The Source of Life is from above, but under animal instinct man forgets his Source to indulge in riotous living and the misuse of the creative fire.—Edna Lister, October 10, 1961.

Man, as a moral being, is inexplicable unless we acknowledge the reality of the universal Father. Atheism, which is the disbelief in anything greater than the self, is why some souls practice immorality.—Edna Lister, Omnipresence, the Father’s Primacy, November 24, 1964.

Paul preached against immorality and fornication. Fornication and adultery have different meanings. Adultery always refers to illegal commitments between males and females. Fornication includes every perversion in the world, between humans and animals as well.—Edna Lister, January 5, 1967.

Creatures are neither moral nor immoral, just animals living by instinct, the lowest levels of mind.—Edna Lister, November 2, 1967.

Fornication and perversion are sins against the Holy Spirit. the practice of perversions fastens the soul to the world, misuse of the creative fire, and damages the soul’s ability to forgive itself. You can lift everything, yet memory will revert to that sense of guilt, which really is contrition that you could have so misused the Holy Spirit.—Edna Lister, December 4, 1970.

New Testament on Immorality

Whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication [sexual immorality], causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.—Matthew 5:32. [You are adulterating vows made to God.]

Those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications [sexual immorality], thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.—Matthew 15:18-20.

This is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication [sexual immorality]; that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; not in the lust of concupiscence.—1 Thessalonians 4:3-5.

Whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications [sexual immorality], murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: all these evil things come from within, and defile the man.—Mark 7:18-23.

The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.—Romans 8:2-13. [To mortify the body means to subdue the body’s needs and desires, by self-denial or discipline.]

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.—1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

The body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.—1 Corinthians 6:13.

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.—1 Corinthians 6:18-20.

Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.—Galatians 5:16-21.

From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.—James 4:1-7.

Old Testament on Immorality

And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them. If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you. And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast. And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity. And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people. And thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister, nor of thy father’s sister: for he uncovereth his near kin: they shall bear their iniquity. And if a man shall lie with his uncle’s wife, he hath uncovered his uncle’s nakedness: they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless. And if a man shall take his brother’s wife, it is an unclean thing: he hath uncovered his brother’s nakedness; they shall be childless. Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spue you not out. And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.—Leviticus 20:10-23.

Immorality in Other Sacred Writings

Insight on dying young: He pleased God, and was beloved of him, so that he was translated; speedily he was taken away, lest wickedness should alter his understanding, or deceit beguile his soul. For the glamor of immorality obscures things that are honest; and the wandering of selfish desires undermines the simple mind. He, being made perfect in a short time, fulfilled a long time: For his soul pleased the Lord: therefore hastened He to take him away.—Wisdom of Solomon 4:10-14.
