Edna Lister’s Lectures

An Introduction to Spectrology

By Linda Mihalic

Edna Lister based her lectures on a field of study that she called “Spectrology,” which is “that branch of science which determines the constituent elements and other conditions of bodies by examination of their spectra”–Century Dictionary. She defined her area of interest as the study of the human spectrum, a “range of values of quantities and of related qualities, ideas, or activities”–American Heritage Dictionary.
No fact or shred of evidence was too insignificant to serve as grist for her mental mill as she sought to synthesize knowledge into wisdom. This wisdom, as she as described it, is a series of nested concentric spheres, the outermost shell being God as Being, the All That Is, enclosing a sphere called ontology, the study of being, which holds knowledge gained through mysticism, moving inward as the fields of philosophy, metaphysics, science, and to the heart of the individual soul—psychology.
Edna Lister’s “human spectrum” occupies only a fraction of the entire electromagnetic spectrum You can find many keys to the mysteries of God’s Creation in the electromagnetic spectrum (EMS):

The Electromagnetic Spectrum

In addition to Edna Lister’s written outlines, we have included transcripts of her students’ notes wherever available. Her outlines appear before the transcripts on any given date, and in many cases they are quite different. While the outlines may seem sparse, a transcript of a lecture is generally much longer; her lectures were typically an hour or more in length. Ponder what you read in the silence, and you may tune into the living record, which exists eternally in Divine Mind. You may best savor these records of her work by reading them aloud.

Vivere ut Gaudium

Edna Miriam Lister ascended to the Father August 3, 1971.

Crossing the Bar 2

By Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
  Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
  And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
  When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

Endnotes

1^ Spectrology (the study of spectra) is called spectroscopy, the field of study that measures and interprets the electromagnetic spectra that result from the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and matter as a function of the wavelength or frequency of the radiation. Matter and acoustic waves are forms of radiative energy. Spectroscopy is the precise study of color as generalized from visible light to all bands of the electromagnetic spectrum. Spectroscopy is a fundamental exploratory tool in the fields of astronomy, chemistry, materials science, and physics.

2^The sandbar that usually separates shallower coastal waters from the open sea.
