Via Christa Laws and First Principles

Linda Mihalic

The Via Christa has existed from before time and shall last eternally. While it includes all ancient wisdom teachings, we who consciously walk the Via Christa focus our study on the wisdom traditions of the Western world, which form the framework of our ethics and moral law. You can use what you find here as the basis for studying the rules that govern the personal, religious, moral, business and social aspects of your life. We include certain non-standard teachings to irritate complacency and to encourage curiosity.

“Universal first principles form the framework of absolute reality as its laws.”

“Ye are the light of the world.…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”—Matthew 5:14-18.

Universal first principles form the framework of absolute reality as laws. You, as an individual soul, can fully comprehend no process unless you first know and understand the rules governing it. One size does not fit all on the Via Christa; no single study plan exists. Life requires that you be adaptive, and so do learning and study. However, if you simply must know the rules first, start with Laws in Sacred Literature.

Others prefer to begin with a preface or at the back of the book with the endnotes, to better understand context and the origins of a particular topic. We live in a time, in a culture that likes to pose as being expert, fully matured and transcendent, but this is nonsense. Unless you understand the history of philosophy and the development of man’s ideas and beliefs, you are doomed to an endless looping replay of intellectual illusions and delusions. If understanding context is essential to you, read Philosophy, which includes Ethics and Moral Law, first.

Many children and adult souls like to dive into the middle right now. As travelers of the Via Christa, our chief sources of inspiration are Scripture, the teachings of Jesus the Christ and his great disciple and servant, Edna Lister. Her forty-plus years ministry, recorded by those who wrote what she said, provides a rich spiritual legacy from a life spent in service to Christ.

Christ came and taught us what we must do and how we must be to inherit the Kingdom of God. Edna Lister came and taught us how to do what Christ taught, how to be and how to act to return to God, our Source. If you prefer the holographic and synergistic approach, applying the genius of common sense, start with the Christ Laws for Today.

In 1940, Edna Lister asked Edna and Ruth Bender, of Buffalo, New York, to compile the spiritual laws and principles she was teaching into a textbook of laws. They created hundreds of typed file cards, but never completed a book. Eighty-plus years later, we are fulfilling her desires, although in electronic rather than printed form.
